Note from the webmaster:  We update this web site at least once a week during our summer concert season.  Since the program for each Sunday concert is finalized at our rehearsal on Monday evening, we generally post the week's update sometime on Tuesday.  Unfortunately, if you are viewing this page on a summer Monday, what follows will undoubtedly be the information for YESTERDAY'S concert.
For those specifically SEEKING web pages from past concerts, our recent concert archives are now available online.

This week's concert will take place on July 5 - one day after our nation's 250th birthday. In keeping with the event, this week's conductor Jacob Yochum plans a real patriotic celebration! Jacob is a very busy guy - not only does he play the saxophone in the band when not conducting, but he is the conductor of the Bel Canto Chorale, Burlington's premiere choral ensemble, the pastor of the Danville Methodist Church and a realtor for Benchmark Real Estate in Wayland, Iowa!

As predicted, after rain had forced us indoors the previous week, the weather turned hot and breezy. A breeze is a mixed blessing for the band - it helps with the heat and keeps the bugs away but generous use of music clips and clothespins is a must to prevent our music from ending up in Illinois! Most importantly, audience members reported that they were very comfortable and we consider our famous rubber chicken concert to have been a resounding success!
This Week's Concert
Sunday, July 5, 2026
(NOTE: If the weather is bad, this concert will be moved
to Edward Stone School -- notice will be posted here,
and on the band's Facebook page.)
As the conductor of the Bel Canto Chorale, Jacob has "connections" as they say, and has arranged, invited, convinced, finagled, or begged (whichever is the most appropriate verb) for the Chorale to join us for several selections. Needless to say, our band members are excited and we welcome and greatly appreciate the Chorale's participation. We think that our audience is in for a treat!
