As flood waters rose in late April (long before the record-breaking June flood), several band members volunteered to move the band's library of music and equipment, normally stored on the first floor of Memorial Auditorium, to safety on the third floor.  Members who participated were Tom Bell, Mark Eveleth, Ted Francis, Marcia Korb, Mike Lachnitt, Derrick Murphy, Jim and Mary Priebe, Brady Schach,  Dave Scott, and Scott Teater.
That move was on April 28.  At our first rehearsal of the 2008 summer season, on May 19, the entire band chipped in to move our equipment back to the auditorium basement.  A few weeks later, there was another emergency move back to the safety of the third flood.  This time, we were joined by Jennifer Hexom's visiting sister Barb.
At our concert on June 29, members of Burlington's Hamilton-Walters Chapter of the Marine Corps League gave a presentation demonstrating the ceremony of folding the American Flag, explaining the significance of each fold.  We thank them for sharing this moving ceremony.
On July 20, trumpeter Brady Schach, member of our band and recent West Burlington High School graduate, performed the solo The Young Man with a Horn.
